I had the pleasure of contributing to the transformation of Café De Gentenaar, a small café in Ghent. The small bites are served on custom tableware, thoughtfully aligned with the interior.

My long-standing collaboration with Sylvester Parmentier—from Bottelare to Ostend and Scheldewindeke—continues here with a shared focus on sensory experience. Colour, texture and materiality form the starting point of each project.

The tones of the ceramic tiles guided the development of bespoke glazes, creating a subtle dialogue between the objects and their surroundings. As an interior architect and ceramicist, I value the process as much as the result, allowing each piece to be experienced as well as observed.

Moodboard

The sea has always been a source of inspiration—its salty air, shifting light and steady rhythm creating a sense of calm and openness.

For Et Alors - Je m’en fous, this atmosphere became the starting point of my work. The ceramics reflect the seaside context: tactile, understated and shaped by the dialogue between material and place. Created to be used, touched and experienced, they quietly echo the character of the coast.

tableware - the sea as inspiration

Inspired by fashion and nature, I envisioned an atmosphere of warmth and softness for Sylvester Restaurant. Terra and rose tones, warm browns and subtle red nuances come together in a rich, tone-on-tone palette that radiates calm and understated luxury.

Carefully selected clay types were tested throughout the firing process to achieve the right colours and textures. As both interior architect and potter, I work with great attention to colour and form: the exterior of the tableware is intentionally left raw, while the interior is finished with a high-gloss glaze—creating a tactile balance between roughness and refinement. Something meaningful together.

As a ceramic artist, I explore the world of tea as a sensorial ritual. Guided by conversations with tea sommelier Valerie Hallin (Theeroos), as a conceptual sounding board, I developed a personal tea service inspired by the rose.

Starting from classic English handle-less teacups and the Japanese gaiwan, the form unfolds like a flower. Designed to be held in the hands, it invites a slower, more mindful way of drinking. Together.
